My interest in Riding Ponies started in 1999 with the purchase of my first show pony, Osory Scarlet when I was 11. The amount of time I spent looking up her bloodlines, avoiding anything to do with school, taught me so much about the great Riding Ponies of our time.
It was learning about these great ponies that triggered my love and burning interest for the Riding Pony.
Scarlet was a very successful pony for me winning at Horse of the Year and The Royal Show several times. Unfortunately we never got a foal from her, even though this was the intention as she had complications with what was to be her first foal and passed away.
The rest of our start to breeding hasn’t been nearly so tragic. The purchase of Kirreway Welcome in foal to Ascot Classic Silk in early 2004 became the start of Wildwood Stud. She has had several foals for Ascot and Kirreway Studs including Ascot Silver Dream (exp. USA) and Ascot Royal Emblem (Stallion exp. NZ). We purchased her as our foundation mare and are very pleased with two foals she has had for the stud. She is joined in the broodmare paddock by five other mares Willowcroft Sea Cottage, St Clares Bvlgari, Rory's Kick, Lady Paris of Astral and LJS Royal Secret. We have just expanded our stud by adding the magnificent colt Melody Park Valentino who will cover his first season of mares this spring. The intention is to buy mares and fillies with exceptional breeding as well as good looks and movement.
As we are a young stud, our eldest Wildwood progeny has just come out under saddle. We are very heartened that she was awarded Champion SHC Galloway of the year at her first big show. What a win!
At Wildwood we aim to breed Riding Ponies with classic looks, excellent temperaments and impeccable bloodlines.
I hope you enjoy looking around our site at our much loved Wildwood Ponies.
